Our puppy ate about a third of a stick of garlic butter tonight. Knowing garlic is toxic to dogs, I called our local VCA Animal Hospital for help. They put me on hold, then gave me the phone number for Animal Poison Control—which, it turns out, is a U.S.-based organization that charges a $79 USD consultation fee. Seriously—why is a Canadian vet referring me to an expensive U.S. service?
