The Evangelical Fetish for Catastrophe
Friday, March 6, 2026
The current obsession with the “unholy trifecta” of the Iranian conflict, Purim, and the blood moon isn’t faith—it’s the spiritual fetishization of catastrophe. You can practically feel the online hum of a movement vibrating with excitement at the prospect of global war. There’s something almost satanic about taking this much pleasure in the suffering of others. It’s sickening to watch. This isn’t about Jesus, serious end-times theology, or ancient prophecy. It’s a toxic fusion of fear-driven, bad-faith politics and theologically bankrupt, Cold War era eschatology pulled straight from a bargain-bin book.
